Local-Regional-National

Like all International Yachting (IYFR) fleets, Seattle Rotary Mariners has its own bridge:  commodore, vice commodore, and rear commodore.  Many of our activities are coordinated with one or more of six IYFR fleets with whom we share the great cruising waters of the Salish Sea—now the official name of the inland waters of Northwest Washington and Southwest British Columbia.  Our activities range from international to regional and local.

Activity Highlights:

Exotic Venues: Each year following Rotary’s international convention, IYFR holds a Post-Convention Cruise (PCC), as near the convention site as can be arranged.  All IYFR members worldwide are encouraged to participate in the PCC, and many Seattle Mariners have shared the joy of boating in exotic venues like Turkey, Australia, Japan, Scandinavia, Great Britain, as well as US locations. See world map of fleets

Closer to Home: In 2007 when Rotary’s convention was in Salt Lake City, the PCC was held in Washington’s San Juan Islands and our fleet shared responsibility for hosting that event.  Our own Bill Robinson completed his term as International Commodore that year, and many from our regional fleets were actively engaged as members of the international bridge.

IYFR has its own website, iyfr.net, with general information and a members-only section containing worldwide fleet information and rosters.  Through the website one can also view the IYFR newsletter “Rotafloat.”

Open to All Rotarians

All Rotarians can join the International Yachting Fellowship of Rotarians (IYFR). The only requirement for joining is an active interest in boating (ownership of a boat is not required). Fleets are located worldwide.

By joining Seattle Rotary Mariners you also become a member of IYFR and part of both great fellowships.
